Witch (Doppelganger #2) by Marie Brennan

"Witch" By: Marie Brennan

"When a witch is born, a doppelganger is created. For the witch to master her powers, the twin must be killed. Until now...

Created by the merging of witch and doppelganger, Mirei is a unique being. Her extraordinary magic makes her the most powerful witch alive—and a notorious social outcast. While Satomi, the leader of the witches’ ruling Primes, hails Mirei as a miracle, rival Primes proclaim that Mirei is an evil abomination... and that those who champion her must be destroyed.

Now the different witch factions engage in a bloody war with magic, treachery, and murder. But both sides may be fighting for nothing. For the power that the rebel Primes fear, the magic that Mirei alone possesses, is killing her." - Goodreads

Now I rated Maries' first book a 4 on Goodreads but this one I have to give a 5 all the way.

Marie's story really took hold and came alive in this second book. She cut out all the uniteresting information and just kept the book going.

Mirei is a wonderful person and a very good protagonist, Marie doesn't put too much on her shoulders to make her unbelievable. Mirei has restrictions and limits and Marie really does stress that. She also plays things so intrinsically throughout the book that you just marvel at her wording and piecing together of this book.

I give this book a thumbs up, read the first book of course because you would be utterly lost but other than that you should read this book, its interesting and worth while.
